Overview

Nico Commandeur practices in the firm's litigation group, with a concentration in complex commercial litigation and law firm defense. Mr. Commandeur has tried cases in various state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration. He also has significant appellate experience, having briefed and argued appeals in state and federal courts. Before joining the firm, Mr. Commandeur served as Law Clerk to the Hon. Robert L. Carter, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York.

Representing monoline insurers in multibillion-dollar litigations against sponsors and originators of mortgage-backed securities.

Currently representing the world’s largest health care company in a multibillion-dollar dispute over rights to one of its best selling drugs.

Obtained $298.5 million settlement from a major accounting firm in a fraud and negligence case on behalf of a public company.

Successfully defended major health care company in arbitration regarding rights under a development agreement, including obtaining an award of attorneys’ fees and successfully defending the judgment on appeal.

Legal Malpractice
Representing international law firm in malpractice action relating to patent prosecution.

Mounted a vigorous defense that led to the voluntary dismissal of a $100 million malpractice and RICO suit against an AmLaw 100 firm over a complex international financing transaction.

Represented several major law firms in compensation disputes.

Antitrust
Defended major financial institution in ongoing antitrust litigation involving network services for credit and debit cards.

Intellectual Property
Represented several clients in various intellectual property disputes, including patent litigation and false advertising litigation.
