Overview

Niraj Parekh is an associate in the firm's litigation department, where he represents clients in all aspects of litigation in federal and state courts as well as alternative dispute resolution.

His primary areas of practice include complex commercial litigation ranging from matters relating to the health care and pharmaceutical industry to disputes involving mortgage- and asset- backed securities.  Mr. Parekh is part of the firm's Mortgage and Credit Crisis Team and has assisted clients enforce common law and contractual rights under multiple mortgage-backed securitization transactions.  In addition, Mr. Parekh has represented clients in multidistrict litigation over pharmaceutical pricing, government investigations by state and federal regulators in both the insurance and pharmaceutical industries, pharmaceutical licensing disputes, construction arbitration, accounting arbitration, insurance disputes, and real estate litigation. 

Mr. Parekh strongly supports the firm's pro bono practice and has represented pro bono clients in connection with the New York Lawyers for Public Interest, Advocates for Children and the New York Metropolitan Hospital.

Successfully represented major pharmaceutical companies secure dismissal of fraud and state consumer class action claims following a bench class action trial.

Represented major pharmaceutical companies in class action litigations and government investigations pertaining to drug pricing and reimbursement.

Successfully represented pharmaceutical companies in drug licensing disputes and arbitration relating to the marketing and manufacturing of biologics.

Successfully represented pharmaceutical companies secure dismissal of class action shareholder claims pertaining to the purchase and sale of a major drug device company.

Represented insurance broker in corporate investigations by state and federal regulators and in civil class actions pertaining to competition among insurance carriers and brokers of commercial insurance.

Represented various group self-insurance trusts in challenging recent actions taken by the New York State Workers' Compensation Board.

Represented commercial real estate owners in construction arbitration adverse to construction company.

Successfully represented commercial real estate owner in partnership disputes and enforcing settlement agreement to purchase former partner's interests in real estate venture located in downtown Manhattan valued at over $50 million.
