Firm Names Three New Partners

New York, December 11, 2009 – Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP is proud to announce that, effective January 1, 2010, Michael S. Arlein, Adeel A. Mangi and Chad J. Peterman will become partners of the firm.

Michael S. Arlein focuses his practice on a broad range of matters in the personal planning area, including estate and tax planning for individuals and families, owners of private businesses and corporate and financial services executives. His work includes estate and trust administration, all aspects of Surrogate's Court practice, including probate proceedings, will contests and guardianships, and planning for charitable giving and philanthropy. Mr. Arlein received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School and his B.A., summa cum laude, from Duke University.

Adeel A. Mangi is a litigator, concentrating his practice in complex commercial disputes. He has particular experience in false advertising, pharmaceutical pricing and False Claims Act matters, intellectual property litigation, class action defense and employment litigation. Mr. Mangi joined the firm in 2000 upon his graduation from Harvard Law School with an LL.M. Mr. Mangi was at Harvard as a Kennedy Memorial Scholar. Prior to that time, Mr. Mangi qualified as a British Barrister at Law as a Member of Lincoln's Inn, during which time he won the National Bar Providers Moot Court Competition. Mr. Mangi also holds a First Class Degree in Law from the University of Oxford (Pembroke College), where he held the Roger Bannister Scholarship for Academics and Sports and Domus scholarships. Mr. Mangi was also the winner of the Oxford University Inner Temple Moot Court Competition.

Chad J. Peterman focuses his practice on patent and antitrust litigation with an emphasis on the electrical and pharmaceutical arts. He has represented major software, telecommunications, semiconductor and medical equipment companies in patent litigations. He has also represented major pharmaceutical companies in complex ANDA litigations, antitrust litigations and mediations. In addition to litigation, Mr. Peterman has represented companies in intellectual property transactional matters, including the rendering of patent opinions and the negotiation of intellectual property agreements. He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.S.E. from Princeton University.
