We Have Clerk Appeal

We expect our associates to assume significant substantive responsibility for their cases and matters. For that reason, we highly value the challenges, responsibility and perspective that a judicial clerkship provides and attempt to ensure that both the clerk and the firm obtain the greatest possible benefit from the clerkship experience. For these reasons, among others, judicial clerks have always been attracted to our firm. Presently, 80% of our litigation associates are former clerks from federal District Courts, Courts of Appeals and the Supreme Court and from the highest courts of several states.

Historically, our clerk recruiting season began in early January with a kick-off reception for federal court law clerks in the tri-state area. While we will not be hosting our traditional reception this year due to COVID-19, we look forward to engaging with candidates in other ways. If you are interested in learning more about the Firm, please do not hesitate to reach out. We will be reviewing resumes and interviewing on a rolling basis. If you are interested in Patterson Belknap, we strongly encourage you to apply as early as possible.

"We know the unique perspective clerks bring with them - an insider's understanding of what motivates and exasperates judges. That's an invaluable asset to a career at Patterson Belknap."

-- Greg Diskant, Litigation Of Counsel
