John Sare to Serve as Panelist at ALI’s Legal Issues in Museum Administration Conference

On Friday, March 25, John Sare will serve as a panelist at the American Law Institute's 50th Annual Legal Issues in Museum Administration conference. Mr. Sare will speak on a panel entitled "Governance: How Good is Good Enough?" Other members of the panel will be Sharon Cott, General Counsel of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Judith Leonard, General Counsel of the Smithsonian Institute and Adine Varah, General Counsel of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

This panel will focus “on the key pillars of good governance and the rules, policies, and practices that help ensure the integrity of the museum’s decision-making processes.” The panelists will take “a closer look at the museum board’s role in addressing a variety of critical areas including conflicts of interest, ethics, reputational harm, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.”
