Biography

Lauren Simpson is an Associate in the Firm’s Tax-Exempt Organizations department. Ms. Simpson advises tax-exempt organizations on a broad range of issues, including corporate governance, formation and structuring, tax and regulatory compliance, operational policies and procedures, fundraising, domestic and international grantmaking, investment activities, and lobbying and political campaign issues. She also advises on establishing and managing relationships and affiliations between tax-exempt organizations and for-profit entities, including program and mission-related investments, the creation of incubators and accelerators, and licensing and service arrangements. Her clients consist of private foundations and public charities, including colleges and universities, environmental conservation groups, donor-advised funds, educational, religious, and cultural organizations, and company foundations, as well as social welfare organizations and business leagues, among others. Prior to joining Patterson Belknap, Ms. Simpson practiced tax law at a New York-based law firm.
