Firm Secures Victory for Pro Bono Clients in Housing Discrimination Case

December 8, 2022

On Thursday, December 7, the Firm secured a significant victory for our pro bono clients, members of the 273 Lee Avenue Tenants Association, who had alleged that the landlord of 273 Lee Avenue, an eight-unit apartment building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, had unlawfully discriminated against Latinx tenants of the building.  After several years of hard-fought litigation and on the eve of trial, the Patterson Belknap team, along with our pro-bono partner Communities Resist, reached a final settlement agreement with the landlord, which included a significant cash payment, various remedial measures, and the entry of a consent judgment and permanent injunction barring the landlord from discriminating against our clients in the future.
