Lewis V. Popovski and Jeffrey S. Ginsberg Join Patterson Belknap as Partners

New York, September 9, 2015 – Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP is pleased to announce that patent litigators Lewis V. Popovski and Jeffrey S. Ginsberg have joined the Firm as partners. They will be members of the Firm’s nationally recognized Patent Litigation Practice Group and concentrate on disputes relating to technologies in industries including electronics, telecommunications, automotive parts, mechanical systems, medical devices, and a wide array of product manufacturing.

Lewis Popovski’s experience spans nearly 25 years and includes trial and appellate representations on patent, trademark, trade dress litigation and trade secret misappropriation cases. His patent litigation practice covers a broad and diverse variety of technical areas, including optical and electro optical communication devices and systems, microprocessor and computer system architecture, semiconductor manufacturing, digital video and audio signal compression and processing systems, encryption technologies, LED and semiconductor lasers, night vision technology, mass-flow meters, mass spectrometers as well as various mechanical systems.

Mr. Popovski also counsels clients on the implementation of procedures and programs to identify and protect clients’ intellectual property, the transfer of intellectual property and the validity, infringement and enforcement of intellectual property.

He has been recognized by top industry publications and was selected as the 2014 Lexology and International Law Office Client Choice Award winner for “Intellectual Property – Patents” both for New York and the U.S. Managing Intellectual Property magazine has named him a New York “IP Star.”

Mr. Popovski received his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law in 1991.He earned his B.T., summa cum laude, in Electro-Mechanical Computer Technology from the New York Institute of Technology in 1985. Prior to becoming a patent attorney, Mr. Popovski was a pilot in the United States Air Force and an engineer at Veeco Instruments, Inc.

Jeffrey Ginsberg has over twenty years of experience litigating patent infringement disputes and other intellectual property matters including false advertising, unfair competition trademark infringement and trade secret misappropriation. He has handled cases before numerous federal district courts, the International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He has had lead roles in bench and jury trials, and appellate proceedings.

Mr. Ginsberg’s technical experience covers a broad range of technologies including automotive parts, mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, electronics, telecommunications, medical devices, endodontic products, agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, mass spectrometers, and polymeric materials. In addition to his litigation experience, he has considerable experience in connection with client counseling, opinion work, due diligence, licensing, and patent prosecution.

Mr. Ginsberg received his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1993 and his B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from Lafayette College in 1990.
