Patterson Belknap Launches Blog On Second Circuit Criminal Law Decisions

November 21, 2016

Patterson Belknap is pleased to announce the launch of www.secondcircuitblog.com, a critical resource for those who follow the criminal law decisions rendered by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

With a rich 225-year history of legendary judges like Learned Hand and Henry Friendly, the Second Circuit has long enjoyed a reputation for writing important and thoughtful opinions on many subjects, including criminal law.  This blog reviews every single published criminal law opinion handed down by the Second Circuit, providing readers with a summary of the holding, an assessment of the key legal issues, and practice pointers based on the Court’s ruling.  The blog is a destination for people who are interested in criminal law, particularly white-collar criminal cases and matters relating to internal investigations.  The blog is written under the direction of Patterson Belknap partner Harry Sandick, by a team of experienced attorneys, including many former law clerks for the Second Circuit and other federal appellate and trial courts.

The blog’s Editor in Chief, Sandick is a former Deputy Chief Appellate Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York who previously clerked for the Second Circuit and who has appeared in more than 100 criminal appeals in the Second Circuit as part of his active appellate practice in both federal and state court.  Mr. Sandick noted, “We hope over time to build a community of readers who share both our interest in criminal appellate practice and our respect for the work of the Second Circuit in this important area.
