Patterson Belknap Partner Travis J. Tu Named a 2017 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow

Patterson Belknap partner Travis J. Tu has been selected as the Firm’s Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellow for 2017.  As a Fellow, Mr. Tu will participate in a landmark program created by LCLD to identify, train and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.

LCLD works with attorneys to develop strong leadership and relationship skills that can assist in fostering diversity within their individual organizations and the legal profession overall.  Founded in 2009, LCLD has more than 265 Members, who serve as either general counsel of major corporations or managing partners of the nation's leading law firms

Mr. Tu is Co-Chair of the Firm’s Diversity Committee and a partner in the Firm’s nationally-recognized False Advertising practice.  He has worked extensively in the areas of intellectual property and false advertising, including numerous disputes in federal court under the Lanham Act and before the National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus. He also has been involved in more than 35 state court litigations involving claims of unfair competition, false advertising and consumer fraud.  He recently was part of the team that secured a federal jury verdict in California for the world’s leading beverage company in a landmark advertising dispute over juice labeling.

Mr. Tu’s false advertising experience has earned him recognition in Chambers USA as an “Up and Coming” practitioner nationally in the area of Advertising Litigation, and he was named to Benchmark Litigation’s inaugural “Under 40 Hot List” in 2016. Mr. Tu is the former Editor-in-Chief of the NYU Law Review and served as Law Clerk to the Hon. Sonia Sotomayor from 2003-2004 when she was a judge in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
