Firm Advises on The Real Estate Board of New York’s “Most Ingenious Real Estate Deal of 2009”
Patterson Belknap attorneys represented The Silberman Fund (an affiliate of The New York Community Trust), in a complicated four-party transaction that included selling a property on East 79th Street that housed the Hunter School of Social Work that was owned by The Silberman Fund, and working with our client and the City University of New York to acquire a new home in East Harlem for the Hunter School of Social Work and build a state of the art facility. The sale of the 79th street property enabled The Silberman Fund not only to make the move possible through the largest gift ever received by the City University of New York, but to continue to make grants to improve the quality of social work training and education for years to come. The brokers that helped put together the transaction were awarded first prize by The Real Estate Board of New York for the Most Ingenious Real Estate Deal of 2009. Firm attorneys included Shelly Korman, Ken Sankin, Kerri Alessi and Megan Bell.
