Firm Authors Amicus Brief on Behalf of 119 Religious Organizations in Support of DACA Plaintiffs

March 22, 2018

On March 20, 2018, the Firm filed an amicus curiae brief on behalf of 119 religious organizations in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, asking for affirmance of the preliminary injunction granted by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California preventing the termination of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (“DACA”) program. The amici, led by the Muslim Bar Association of New York, are American religious or religiously-affiliated organizations who represent a wide array of faiths and denominations.” These groups have long supported DACA “as a compassionate and appropriate response to the humanitarian crisis posed by the hundreds of thousands of undocumented people brought to this country as children, before they could make choices of their own.” In their brief, the amici address how, “in their view, the Government’s proposed termination of DACA …would cause irreparable harm and constitute a severe detriment to the public.”
