White Collar Defense and Investigations

Patterson Belknap partner Daniel S. Ruzumna has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL), an invitation-only fellowship of exceptional trial lawyers across the United States and Canada.

Founded in 1950, the College is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers of diverse backgrounds, who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of fifteen years of trial experience before they can be considered for Fellowship.

Mr. Ruzumna is a partner in the Firm’s Litigation department and Co-Chair of its White Collar Defense and Investigations group, where his practice focuses on the areas of white collar criminal defense and related regulatory proceedings, internal investigations, asset forfeiture proceedings, and complex financial litigation. He has represented corporations and individuals in many recent high-profile criminal and regulatory investigations involving alleged violations of the securities laws, antitrust laws, tax laws, and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. His extensive trial experience has earned him a “Litigation Star” for New York recognition by Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC’s Benchmark Litigation, and he has been recognized by Chambers USA in the area of white-collar criminal defense and investigations. Before joining Patterson Belknap, Mr. Ruzumna spent six years working at the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.
