Firm Achieves Top Rankings in Benchmark Litigation 2019 Guide

October 23, 2018

Patterson Belknap has again been ranked as a leading law firm by Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC's Benchmark Litigation. Recognized in the top category, "Highly Recommended," for New York Litigation, the 2019 edition notes, "From its sole New York office, Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler has emerged as a firm whose work has spawned reverberations throughout the litigation market nationally; peers from California to DC offer recognition of its litigators and their accomplishments. Clients testify on the firm’s behalf, with insight as to some of its niche market strengths. One notes, 'Patterson Belknap has an excellent intellectual property litigation team, a quick grasp of complex technical issues and a can-do attitude when it comes to getting things done.' Another declares, 'They also have excellent knowledge of the food and beverage/consumer products industry and the legal issues with the most impact on the same.' Clients are all in accord with one’s summation that 'they get good results, are efficient and responsive, and consistently deliver only the best work-product. Fees are based on an alternative fee arrangement, which rewards efficiency, so they are both efficient and cost effective.”

Geoffrey Potter, a litigation partner and Chair of the firm's Anti-Counterfeiting Practice team, is commended for his work in a "high-profile trademark dispute."

In RMBS litigation, Benchmark notes "peers are impressed at the tenacity of the Patterson Belknap team: 'They are just going hard at those banks and not letting up! The defendants keep trying to shake them and can’t!' Co-Chair of the firm, Peter Tomlinson, “is called ‘exceptional. He understands the details and nuances of…[RMBS] cases unlike anyone else in the field.’” Benchmark also recognizes litigation partner, Erik Haas, in this area.

Steven Zalesin, a litigation partner, is commended for his false advertising litigation work. Benchmark notes that he “is also revered for his intellectual property prowess.”

Litigation partner and Co-Chair of the firm's Biotechnology Practice Irena Royzman is noted for her work in patent litigation, and was named to Benchmark’s “Top 250 Women in Litigation” earlier this year.

Litigation partner Adeel Mangi is commended for his work in a "novel and contentious [pro bono] matter."

The firm has been "highly recommended" by Benchmark Litigation in each of its editions since the inception of the guide. Additionally, several of our partners are recognized as "Stars" throughout the guide, as listed below.
