Gregory Diskant Receives Federal Bar Council's 2025 Thurgood Marshall Award
Of Counsel Gregory Diskant has been honored as the "Veteran" recipient of the Federal Bar Council's 2025 Thurgood Marshall Award for Exceptional Pro Bono Service, an award recognizing "lawyers who have gone above and beyond in making an extraordinary contribution in the area of pro bono service." Mr. Diskant served as a law clerk to Justice Marshall during his tenure on the United States Supreme Court, an experience that profoundly shaped his commitment to public service and inspired him to dedicate his career to the pursuit of justice.
Mr. Diskant was recognized for his remarkable pro bono service throughout his career focused on First Amendment and democracy issues, including voting rights, immigration, and criminal justice. Among these contributions are the representation of Common Cause in cases challenging partisan and racial gerrymandering in North Carolina and Florida and amicus briefs defending the Voting Rights Act and birthright citizenship.
The award will be presented at the Federal Bar Council's annual Thanksgiving Luncheon on Wednesday, November 26.
