Patterson Attorneys Quoted in Crain's Articles

In an article entitled "Crew of defunct firm's so resilient, it should be illegal" in Crain's the week of April 14-20, on how quickly the New York City partners of the defunct Brobeck firm found positions, Rochelle Korman, Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler managing partner is quoted: "The proof is in the pudding. Here you have a group of lawyers who, despite the dissolution of their firm, have landed on their feet -- which means that the industry, despite the economy, by and large, is in good shape."

The following week (April 28-May 4) a Crain's article quotes Partner Peter Schaeffer in the article, "Touche, Deloitte: Rivals snap up worried clients." The article considers the wisdom of accounting firms also performing consulting services for clients. Since the Sarbanes-Oxley Act was signed into law last summer, some clients are intent upon using different firms for their auditing and consulting services. Says Peter Schaeffer: "Operating under the umbrella of auditing and consulting businesses is going to be such a burden for Deloitte. . . Companies want to appear squeaky-clean." And, he concludes, "Deloitte has no choice but to try again to spin off its consulting business."
