Patterson Belknap Announces Three New Partners and Four Counsel

Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP is pleased to announce that, effective January 1, 2026, Anne-Laure Alléhaut, J. Jay Cho, and Tara J. Norris will become partners of the firm, and Emma Ellman-Golan, Andrew I. Haddad, Irene J. Kim, and Tiffany N. Tam will become counsel.

Anne-Laure Alléhaut practices in the firm’s Art and Museum Law department, where she brings nearly two decades of U.S. and international transactional legal experience to the firm. Ms. Alléhaut draws on her broad and deep experience to advise her global clients in diverse areas of the art industry. Her client base includes private collectors, artists, art dealers, advisors, museums, galleries, estates, and other art-related institutions. Ms. Alléhaut obtained her J.D. from Cornell Law School and holds a Master in International Arbitration and European Litigation, as well as a Maitrise from Paris II, Panthéon-Assas in International and Commercial Law.

J. Jay Cho, Ph.D. practices in the firm’s Litigation department, with extensive experience in patent litigation, representing and advising clients in the United States District Courts and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board at every stage of litigation. He has represented numerous clients in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, and has been involved in cutting-edge patent matters involving small molecules, antibodies, medical devices, antibody-related immunotherapies, and gene editing technologies. Mr. Cho draws on his deep knowledge and training in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, and neuroscience. Mr. Cho also has significant patent litigation experience in other technologies, including image processing, consumer electronics, and sports equipment. Mr. Cho obtained his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and his B.S. from Korea University.

Tara J. Norris practices in the firm’s Litigation department. Ms. Norris represents clients in numerous litigation contexts, from pre-suit investigations through trials and appeals. Ms. Norris has represented clients – ranging from major pharmaceutical companies to nonprofit entities – in intellectual property, RICO, civil fraud, civil forfeiture, defamation, and contractual lawsuits and arbitrations, as well as internal investigations. She is an active member of the firm’s anti-counterfeiting and brand protection practice, with experience combatting counterfeiting, product diversion, and fraud schemes. Ms. Norris served as a law clerk to the Hon. Susan L. Carney of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and as a law clerk to the Hon. Paul G. Gardephe of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Ms. Norris received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School and B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Emma Ellman-Golan practices in the firm’s Litigation department where she represents clients in complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels. Ms. Ellman-Golan counsels clients through pre-litigation disputes and represents clients at all stages of litigation. She has broad experience representing clients in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical technology industries, in law firm defense matters, and in disputes concerning works of art. She also conducts internal investigations for a wide variety of clients. Ms. Ellman-Golan served as a law clerk to the Hon. Madeline Cox Arleo of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. Ms. Ellman-Golan obtained her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School and her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania.

Andrew I. Haddad practices in the firm’s Litigation department, with a focus on commercial litigation, anti-counterfeiting matters, and investigations. Mr. Haddad’s clients have included major educational publishers, pharmaceutical companies, media and sports equipment companies, a law firm, and individuals. Additionally, he has represented clients in high-profile criminal appeals and federal human rights pro bono matters.  Mr. Haddad served as a law clerk to the Hon. Albert Diaz of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and as a law clerk to the Hon. Nicholas G. Garaufis of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Mr. Haddad received his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his B.A. from the University of Michigan.

Irene J. Kim practices in the firm’s Tax department and advises companies, founders, investors, family offices, exempt organizations, and individuals on various tax planning, transactional, and compliance matters. Ms. Kim advises clients on tax considerations in connection with business formations, ownership arrangements, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, debt and equity financings, recapitalizations, restructurings, and dispositions. Ms. Kim has counseled clients on qualified small business stock planning and represents exempt organizations as fund investors. Her practice also extends to advising on cross-border tax planning and withholding issues, as well as general tax compliance matters. She received her LL.M. from New York University School of Law, her J.D. from Boston College Law School, and her B.A. from Brown University.

Tiffany N. Tam practices in the firm’s Tax-Exempt Organizations department, where she represents public charities, private foundations, and other 501(c) organizations. Her clients include schools and universities, arts and cultural institutions, advocacy organizations, grantmaking and operating foundations, corporate and family foundations, donor-advised fund sponsors, social welfare organizations, and business leagues. Ms. Tam counsels clients navigating the unique challenges faced by nonprofits, from advising on formation and exemption to guiding organizations through complex tax, governance, regulatory, and compliance issues. In addition, she partners with donors to help them achieve their philanthropic goals. Ms. Tam received her J.D. from Yale Law School and her B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania.
