Irene Kim is Counsel in the firm's Tax department. Ms. Kim has a broad-based practice advising companies, founders, venture capital investors, management teams, private equity sponsors, family offices, exempt organizations, and individuals on tax planning, transactional, and compliance matters.
Ms. Kim works closely with the Corporate department to advise on tax aspects of a variety of domestic and cross-border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, debt and equity financings, recapitalizations, corporate restructurings, and dispositions. She regularly advises entrepreneurs and early-stage companies on tax planning for business formations and ownership arrangements, and qualified small business stock (QSBS) planning. Her practice also extends to advising on cross-border tax planning and compliance and equity compensation arrangements.
Ms. Kim also advises exempt organizations on a range of issues, including investment structuring, private foundation excise tax issues, unrelated business income taxes and general tax compliance.
Ms. Kim was named to the 2023 and 2024 editions of Best Lawyers®: One to Watch in the area of Tax Law. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Kim practiced tax law at two global law firms in New York.
