Peter Franklin is an Associate in the firm’s Tax-Exempt Organizations department, where he represents a broad range of tax-exempt organizations including educational and cultural institutions, human rights and environmental organizations, and corporate and family foundations. His practice includes advising on corporate governance and fiduciary duties, investment and business activities, endowment funds and other restricted gifts, grantmaking, and compliance with federal tax exemption, excise tax, and intermediate sanctions rules. Mr. Franklin also counsels nonprofit organizations on structuring their relationships with other entities, including for-profits, supporting organizations, and fiscal sponsors.
Prior to joining Patterson Belknap, Mr. Franklin practiced tax law at several other New York-based law firms and advised companies, families, and individuals in connection with their business transactions, investments, and trust and family governance issues.
